Sacrament of Marriage
CONTACT

:  Parish Office at 484-0532

To be married at St. Mary Magdalen's, either the bride or groom must be a practicing Catholic, registered at this parish for at least six months before beginning the six month marriage preparation, and regularly attending Mass and participating in the life of the parish. The only exception to this rule is made for Catholic children of registered and active parishioners who live outside Camarillo and who are practicing Catholics in their own parish.

Weddings take place on Saturdays outside of Advent and Lent.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage begins at least six months before the date of a couple’s wedding.

The focus of the preparation process is two-fold — relational and sacramental. Couples engage in a process of learning about one another as well as acquiring life-long habits and skills that will help them build Christ-centered, strong, healthy marriages.

Couples also are invited to form a sacramental understanding of marriage as the union of one man and woman in Jesus Christ.

Engaged Encounter

Engaged Encounter is a highly effective marriage preparation program designed to meet the needs of today’s engaged couples. Engaged Encounter introduces couples to a communication technique that they can use effectively to foster a deeper knowledge of each other. Each couple comes to realize that marriage is a sacrament and vocation and that God and prayer are essential to a fruitful marriage. Each person is also challenged to review their decision-making process and to examine their motives for seeking marriage.

Topics covered during the weekend include self-awareness, human sexuality, communication, decision making, Natural Family Planning, marriage as a sacrament and vocation, and more.

Please contact the Parish Office for more information & schedules.
