Preparing
young children to celebrate the
sacraments of Reconciliation and
Eucharist is an important part of the
faith practice of all Catholic families.
Each family takes seriously its
responsibility to pass our Catholic
faith traditions on to their children.
The
parents of these children will also be
involved in the preparation process.
Parents will attend the “Family
Connections” evening meetings during
the month of October. To facilitate the
sharing of faith throughout the entire
preparation process, parents will be
present at their children’s class
sessions every time they meet.
All
of this is done to assure that everyone
will grow together as faith-filled
Catholic Christians who understand both
a personal commitment to Jesus Christ
and a commitment to continued
participation in an active Christian
Community.
In
addition to the time spent in class,
families must plan to attend church
every weekend and participate fully in
the celebration of Mass. All the
children will celebrate Children’s
Liturgy of the Word each Sunday during
Mass. Also, conversation at the family
supper table needs to include talk of
growth in faith, love for God and
neighbor, and what it means to be a
Catholic Christian.
Together,
your parish
and your family
prepare these young people to be
welcomed to the table of the Lord.
